Andrews Residence -- north elevation
View of the front (north) side of the Andrews Residence. The house is nearly hidden in the landscape. From this aspect, the design tends to diminish the house itself in favor of the verdant landscape. The roof plane becomes a new visual "ground" with a tree emerging through it at the left. This plane is clearly something new with its acrylic dome skylight toward the center.
At the far left, you can see a narrow wood ramp the leads up to the rear terrace. A carport with a through drive makes the entry fully vehicular oriented and functional in this manner. Any hint of an entrance from the viewpoint of a pedestrian has been eliminated.
